Beware, Hypocrisy!

I have been thinking lately about this issue of hypocrisy. One of the elders at our church recently prepared a message dealing with hypocrisy.(We were going through Matthew 6:1-6; 16-18). I think many of us don't realize how hypocritical we can be. Obviously it's widely known that hypocrites are in essence, fake people, but what does that truly mean, and are we, even as Christians, guilty of this? I learned that there are different kinds of hypocrisy. A hypocrite who fakes it to cover up a bad choice as well as one who fakes it to present an image of themselves that is far from reality. If we are honest with ourselves, even the best of us still deal with pride and self-image. I know for myself, that it's only by God's grace that I've been able to move away from that. Our human nature wants men's good opinion and praise. We care too much about our reputation and what people think about us. As a result, we are prime targets for the enemy. He can tempt us in our weakness, to compromise our convictions and beliefs. Let us be accountble to each other and stand strong. The truth, not lies, will set us free. Just an encouragement! :) Soli Deo Gloria, Ahlaischa

Hi there Ahlaischa! (I spelled your name right, didn't I??)

Very thought-provoking post. I appreciated this. This is SO true! And we, as brothers and sisters in Christ, are sooooo in need of accountability, as well. The Lord didn't mean for us to live the Christian life by ourselves.

Here, where we are, we really don't have much fellowship...it can get really difficult sometimes. The (small) town that we live in is populated of mostly Finnish folks, and they tend to be pretty closed-up and don't share much, and don't like to ask for/accept help. And there are very few Chrisians. So we mainly have non-Believing, hard-to-accept-help people here! LOL
It's a blessing in disguise, because we have lots of opportunities to minister. But the lack of fellowship is difficult, too. We're still praying for some close friends that we can be close to (in person -- as opposed to the internet -- which is great, too! but it's not the same, if you know what I mean...).

Anyway, didn't mean to ramble! Thanks again for this great post!

Blessings to you and yours!~

Hi Noelle!
Thank you so much, this issue has been on my mind lately. I agree, Christians do need fellowship and like-minded people to be with. It's hard enough, living a life that's counter -cultural! :)
Keep praying for good Christian fellowship!, and you can be sure that I'll be praying for you guys as well.

P.S. Yes, you did spell my name right ;)

In Christ, Ahlaischa
